Get Organized
Home office expert Lisa Kanarek, founder of Dallas-based Home
Office Life.com (formerly Everything's Organized) and author of
Organizing Your Home Office For Success (Blakely Press), offers
these tips for making the most of an unusual home office space:
- Use modular furniture. As your needs change, so can your
office.
- Make use of wasted wall space and awkward corners by using
sturdy shelves to store books, reference materials and
supplies nearby.
- Make one piece of furniture serve more than one purpose.
For example, the top of a lateral file cabinet can double as
an extra surface for a paper cutter, fax machine, copier,
etc.
- When buying computer furniture, think vertically to save
precious floor space, and purchase furniture that holds a
computer, keyboard, CPU, printer and any other equipment you
use regularly.
